Landmark Home Warranty Makes Employees’ Dreams Come True with Their Landmark Dreams Program
SALT LAKE CITY — July 21, 2016 — Most companies would be content with their employees having goals and dreams, but Landmark Home Warranty isn’t most companies. Landmark wants to do more than inspire their employees to dream – they want to make those dreams come true.
About four years ago, CEO and Owner Alma Jeppson was looking for charity opportunities for Landmark Home Warranty. He had been working with a number of outside organizations to give back to the community, when it struck him that he should look within his company to give back to the people he worked with every day.
“I had heard of other companies doing service for their employees, and I thought, ‘What better way to support our community than to help the people I rub shoulders with every day? I can truly show my appreciation for all their hard work,’” Jeppson said.
And thus, Landmark Dreams was born.

Megan LeReaux, Office Manager for Landmark, said Landmark Dreams is all about helping employees who have a dream, but who wouldn’t be able to see that dream realized.
“If someone has had an illness, gone through a loss or divorce then the last thing on their mind is going on a once in a lifetime trip, or even purchasing a second car to be able to make things a little easier,” LeReaux said. “That’s where we come in. We want to fulfill the dreams that are just that – a dream. Something that you think you might never accomplish on your own.”
Employees enter their dreams or a co-worker’s dreams to a committee each year. A committee reviews the dreams and selects one or two, based on the submissions.
Over the years, LeReaux said the company has been able to fulfill many employees’ dreams. Landmark Dreams sent a couple on an anniversary trip to Hawaii that kept getting delayed due to hospital bills piling up. The program also provided an employee with a second car to assist the couple in getting to their jobs and taking their children to school. Another employees was gifted a two month house cleaning service after having premature twins.
“We know that we cannot take everyone’s individual burdens away,” LeReaux said. “But if we can bring a little more light, a little more joy, a little more hope, then we have done something.”
This year, two recipients of the Dreams were Elise Nye and Joy Walter.
Elise Nye, the Reputation Specialist for Landmark, was gifted an all-expense paid trip to Disneyland for her and her five children.
“The Landmark Dream I asked for was tickets to Lagoon for the day for my family,” Nye said. “Instead, I was given tickets to Disneyland! My favorite part was seeing the excitement and wonder on my kids’ faces. We laughed more than we have in a long time.”
Joy Walter, Landmark’s Training and Quality Manager, was given a week in London with her son, something that she’s wanted to do for over 15 years.
“As one who studied and taught literature and history, I couldn’t have been in a better place than England,” she sai
Walter and her son were able to visit Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, the Cotswolds, and Stonehenge, and see Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” in the Globe Theatre.
“We also toured Winston Churchill’s War Rooms; walked in the steps of Jack the Ripper; stood on the execution site of the ‘enemies’ of Henry VIII at the Tower of London; watched the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace; and toured Westminster Abbey, a remarkable building where, as I told my son as we were walking through, almost a thousand years of history has taken place,” she said, “My favorite part of our experience? The experience itself.”
Landmark Dreams has become more than just employees wishing for a dream and having it granted. It has developed into a bonding experience for many employees, and is just one of the reasons that Landmark has such a tight-knit community.
“I can say easily that the Landmark Dreams program does not just affect the recipient,” LeReaux said. “When Dreams are given, there is so much love and happiness from everyone knowing that a co-worker and friend is getting something special. It makes giving the dream that much more special for everyone else.”
Walter said that Landmark giving back to the employees in such a generous manner is a true insight into who Alma is as a person and the community he has built through his company.
“Alma truly wants to bless the lives of others,” she said. “This is just one way he has done that for a handful of people over the past several years. Just working at Landmark has been a tremendous blessing in my life; being a recipient of Landmark Dreams has not only enriched my life and my work, it has also solidified my belief that I’m in the right place – not because of Landmark Dreams, but because I work for a company that truly cares about its employees. Landmark is a family – it’s not just something nice we say; it’s something we live.
